home > News Notice of Public Hearing for rules change The State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Surveyors announces its intent to file thirty-three (33) no change rules and adopt eighteen (18) amended rules pursuant to Section 119.032 of the Ohio Revised Code and in conformity with the Common Sense Business Regulation objectives defined in Executive Order 2008-04S. These rules are being filed in compliance with Chapter 119. of the Ohio Revised Code. The Board hereby gives notice that it will conduct a public hearing for the purpose of considering the adoption of rules, as follows on September 22, 2008, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at 77 South High Street, 31st Floor, Room South A Columbus, OH 43215. The proposed rules are available from the Register of Ohio website at http://www.registerofohio.state.oh.us. MORE >> August 23 certificate ceremony FYI…April certificates are being mailed this week to those who were unable to attend the certificate ceremony. ![]() The Board, the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers and the Professional Land Surveyors of Ohio sponsored a certificate ceremony which was held at the Ohio Statehouse on Saturday, August 23, 2008. Certificates were given to those who successfully passed the 2008 April exams and became registered professionals and interns for the first time. The P.E., P.S. ceremony began at 10:00 a.m. The E.I., S.I. ceremony began at 11:30 a.m. Friends and family were in attendance and refreshments were served. Photos will be published on the website when they become available. 2007-2008 firm Certificates of Authorization expired Monday, June 30, 2008 FYI…Your current Certificate of Authorization number is located in the lower right hand corner of the renewal letter. It is always a 5-digit number beginning with 0 and in the range of 01001 through 09999. Certificates of Authorization to provide engineering and surveying services in the state of Ohio expire each year on June 30. To renew, a renewal application must be downloaded from our website. Please note that the renewal form requires your firm's 5-digit Certificate of Authorization license number which you can find in the lower right corner of your renewal letter, on your current license, or from the License lookup page. While you can complete the renewal application online and save the data, you will need to print the application, have it notarized, and mail it with a $25.00 fee made payable to Treasurer, State of Ohio. Mail the renewal application to the address on the application. IMPORTANT! Your Certificate of Authorization will have expired and become inactive if the annual renewal filing was not postmarked by June 30, 2008. REMINDER…Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4733 requires that your firm Certificate of Authorization application have an ACTIVE Ohio Secretary of State charter or registration number. You can search Ohio's Secretary of State website to find your firm's number. Go to the Board's Firms page for more information. Notice to Civil Engineering graduates applying for the Fundamentals of Surveying examination Effective January 1, 2009 graduates of accredited civil engineering programs applying to take the fundamentals of surveying examination under Ohio Revised Code section 4733.11(B)(2)(a) will be required to complete the surveying courses on the updated Surveying Courses Worksheet. Applications filed after January 1, 2009 using the previous worksheet will be considered by the Board on a case-by-case basis. Top of page ^^ |
Ohio’s
2008 October NCEES exams final approved list FYI…The Board approved 1,082 candidates for the October exams. If your name is not on the Board's approved list, do not register with ELSES to take a 2008 October NCEES exam. This is the final list which was updated weekly. ELSES will close exam registration on September 5. Whether approved or not, you will have received a letter from the Board. A denial letter explained deficiencies. An approval letter directed you to ELSES in order to complete your exam registration online. Continuing professional development reminder Do not mail the Board your continuing professional development [CPD] documentation or activity log unless requested by the Board. During an audit, the Board will request the documentation in writing in order to verify that you have completed CPD requirements. The Board does not pre-approve CPD providers, courses or activities. It is up to you to make sure the provider, course or activity claimed meets the requirements of Ohio R.C. section 4733.151. There is NO grace period for earning your 15 CPD hours. When you renew you will need to certify that you have earned 15 CPD hours during the preceding year. If you have not completed the CPD requirement, your registration status will become inactive.
