Fundamentals of Engineering first-time approval in Ohio

Non-ABET degree evaluation required

REMINDER…
in order to be considered for Ohio examination approval, the Board requires all non-ABET accredited degrees to be evaluated by the Center for Professional Engineering Education Services [CPEES], an affiliate of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying [NCEES].

Go to our Degree evaluation policy page for Board policies and procedures.

Overview

You are a first-time Fundamental of Engineering [FE] candidate if you have not been approved by the Board to take the FE, even though you may have previously applied for the FE in Ohio.

For approval consideration, first-time FE candidates must complete the 2-page FE application [PES 1011-FE]. The application fee is $25.00, made payable to Treasurer, State of Ohio. If your application is incomplete, it will be returned.

After verifying your eligibility, the Board will mail your approval letter which includes instructions on how to complete your examination registration by going online to the ELSES website. If the Board does not approve your application, you will be mailed an explanation letter.
