Who Needs a Certificate of Authorization?

Firms providing or offering to provide Professional Engineering, Professional Surveying or Professional Engineering AND Professional Surveying services in Ohio need a Certificate of Authorization from the Board. The legal requirement stems from ORC Section 4733.16.

Recent Law Change

Effective May 15, 2005, the law reads: "Each firm, partnership, association, limited liability company, or corporation through which professional engineering or professional surveying services are offered or provided in this state shall designate one or more full-time partners, managers, members, officers, or directors as being responsible for and in responsible charge of the professional engineering or professional surveying activities and decisions, and those designated persons shall be registered in this state."

The new law makes two changes:

Carefully review and follow application instructions before submitting. To help avoid data entry error, information should be typewritten or clearly printed in permanent ink. Complete all items. Make your fee payable in US funds to Treasurer, State of Ohio. We cannot accept internet or credit card payment.
